Ingredients:

For the Crab Cakes:

  • 1 pound snow crab meat (from Carmelita Seafood), picked over for shells
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

For the Spicy Aioli:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Crab Cakes:

  • In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, beaten egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, green onions, parsley, salt, and pepper. Gently mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Form the mixture into 8 small patties (about 2-3 inches in diameter). Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them firm up.

2. Cook the Crab Cakes:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the crab cakes to the skillet.
  • Cook the crab cakes for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

3. Make the Spicy Aioli:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sriracha, lemon juice, garlic, and a pinch of salt. Adjust the heat level by adding more sriracha if desired. Set aside.

4. Serve:

  • Serve the crab cakes hot, with a generous drizzle of spicy aioli on top. Garnish with extra parsley or lemon wedges if desired.

Tips:

  • Chilling the Crab Cakes: Refrigerating the crab cakes before cooking helps them hold their shape and prevents them from falling apart while frying.
  • Baking Option: For a lighter option, bake the crab cakes at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  • Serving Suggestions: Pair these crab cakes with a fresh green salad, roasted vegetables, or a side of coleslaw for a complete meal.

Enjoy the delicious taste of snow crab in these flavorful and easy-to-make crab cakes, complemented perfectly by the spicy aioli, courtesy of Carmelita Seafood.
