Carmelita's Spicy Shrimp Tacos with Avocado Mango Slaw
Ingredients
For the Shrimp:
- 1 lb fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined 21-25
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Slaw:
- 1 cup shredded green cabbage
- 1 cup shredded purple cabbage
- 1 ripe mango, julienned or diced
- 1/2 avocado, mashed
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Assembly:
- 8 small corn tortillas
- Sliced jalapeños (optional)
- Extra lime wedges
- Hot sauce or chipotle mayo (optional)

Prepare the Shrimp:
- Toss shrimp with olive oil, smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes on each side until they are opaque and slightly charred.

Make the Slaw:
- In a large bowl, mix shredded cabbage, mango, cilantro, and lime juice.
- In a separate bowl, combine mashed avocado with honey (or agave), salt, and pepper.
- Fold the avocado mixture into the slaw until evenly coated.

Assemble the Tacos:
- Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
- Add a generous layer of the slaw to each tortilla, followed by shrimp.
- Garnish with jalapeños, lime wedges, and a drizzle of hot sauce or chipotle mayo, if desired.
