Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos
Ingredients
For the Air Fryer Shrimp
- Large Raw Shrimp: Peeled, deveined & tail-off (can use frozen, thawed)
- Eggs: For breading adhesion
- Tapioca Flour: Or arrowroot starch/corn starch/all-purpose flour
- Seasonings: Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt & black pepper
- Japanese Breadcrumbs: Or regular panko
- Cooking Spray
For the Bang Bang Sauce
- Mayonnaise: Base for the sauce
- Thai Sweet Chili Sauce: Found in international section
- Sriracha: Adjust to taste
For the Cabbage Slaw
- Coleslaw Mix: Pre-packaged or fresh cabbage
- Cilantro: Fresh
- Green Onion
- Mayonnaise: For binding
- Sriracha: Optional
- Lime: Fresh juice
- Kosher Salt: To taste
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Dredging Stations
Pat shrimp dry. Set up three shallow bowls:
- Bowl 1: Tapioca flour and seasonings
- Bowl 2: Breadcrumbs
- Bowl 3: Eggs whisked with splash of water
Step 2: Dredge and Prepare for Air Frying
Dip each shrimp in sequence: flour mixture → egg → breadcrumbs. Place in air fryer basket and spray with oil. Work in batches as needed.
Step 3: Air Fry Shrimp
Cook at 390°F for 7 minutes, flipping halfway. Spray second side with oil after flipping.
Step 4: Prepare Sauce and Slaw
While shrimp cooks:
- Whisk bang bang sauce ingredients in medium bowl
- Combine and toss slaw ingredients in large bowl
Step 5: Coat Shrimp
Transfer cooked shrimp to bowl, pour bang bang sauce over (reserve some for garnish), and gently toss to coat.
Step 6: Assemble Tacos
Warm tortillas. Layer with slaw, sauced shrimp, extra bang bang sauce, and sliced green onion.
